Goodbye

The big goodbye to the tour was said,
and it was a good one.

It's almost been a month,
and I only have a month left of school,
and then it's time to cope and digest and deal with it.
It will be hard but good,
when the time comes.

Some say Pete and his pony vanished over the edge
Some say they remain frozen high upon that icy ledge
The young Navajo girl washes in the river, skin so fair
And braids a piece of Pete's buckskin chaps into her hair

Outlaw Pete
Outlaw Pete
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?

He was a fucking rock star.

I'm not over it, but I'm doing ok.  Way better than I thought I'd be.
A week with family was much needed.
A week out of the city was much needed haha.

Not much else to say at the moment.
I need to write all my memories of this week down before I forget.

none of this makes any sense...

if it was what i think it was,
the last time it happened,
i was there to save him.
but i'm leaving it as an accident.
i'm never accepting that it could have been anything else.
constantly frazzled, he grabbed the wrong thing.
end of story.

i'm not beating myself up over it,
there was nothing i could have done.
but it was just 24 hours till i was going to see him again.

this is not fucking real life.

i thought i was supposed to be the famous one, huh?
now you're all over the news haha.
i still owe you a flight to norway!

left my life as fast as you came into it, but changed me more than you'll ever know.
i love you forever and ever.

Wrecking Ball

Night 1, 9/30/09
- Debuted "Wrecking Ball," saw Cindy, performed Born to Run in its entirety.

Night 2, 10/2/09
- Jeremy Piven was there, performed Darkness on the Edge of Town in its entirety, Bruce spotted me while leaving the stage and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

Night 3, 10/3/09
- Took a nap and did math homework instead of going :(
Bruce crowd surfed during "Hungry Heart" and Cindy wore a shirt I made her on stage!

Night 4, 10/8/09
- Performed Born to Run again, Chris Martin, Ed Burns, and Christy Turlington were there.

Night 5, 10/9/09
- Performed Born in the USA, Matt Damon, Tom Colicchio, Chris Martin, and Ed Burns were there.  Bruce came over and we chatted after he finished soundcheck, still callin' me Cuz haha, and he also managed to spot me in the crowd during the show.

Next, Philly, NYC, and Baltimore.  Then... it's.... over... :(

Is there anybody alive out there?

I am not at night 3 of 5 at Giants Stadium for Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band right now.
I had math homework to do.
Cool.
Night 2 was my favorite so far.
We'll see what the remainder of the tour brings.
I hate letting other people ruin things for me.
Bruce made me come say hi and kissed me on the cheek after coming off stage the other night.
Cool.
Hopefully once I get this art project out of the way, I'll feel better about everything and have the greatest two weeks going back "on tour."

HERE WE GO KIDS

Fashion Week 2009 is milliseconds away from kicking off... ready?!
I'm working Venexiana (again ahhahah) on Friday, Rodarte <3

And in a matter of weeks I'll basically be back on tour with dA bOsS.  Sweet.  But seriously, I can't wait... like 6 shows in three weeks, maybe more, maybe less?  We'll see what happens :)

And I will hopefully be the proud owner of these:

very soon as well.  Totally lusting.

PS: If anyone wants to help me put together my desk, cawlllmeeeeeineedhelp.

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Hello everyone!

I start third semester tomorrow!  Actually kind of excited too.  Just not happy about the fact that it's draping and I need to get there mad early to fight for a good dress form haha.

Last week, I took an impromptu trip to Mansfield, MA for the second night of Bruce's run at Comcast Center.  It was good, but it would have been better if the pit wasn't oversold, I was aloud to sit in the empty seats, or if there was actual space side stage, but it was good to be back with my cousin for a little bit.  I'm trying to figure out how to manage seeing as many shows as I can this fall.  It's going to be a mess.

I saw the September Issue on Friday / opening night... such a great movie!  I really recommend it, even if you're not "in" to fashion.

Anyway, school's in tha moRNiN' so I better get to bed.  I went on the longest walk with Maria today so I'm ready to sleep anyway.  So sore.

Variety

Reporting from the not-so-intimidating coffee shop down the street from our apartment:
- The first time with prolonged internet access in weeks
- Very obnoxious man behind me is screaming about nachos and bike riding and italian ice and loving sleepovers and his laugh reminds me of Bevis & Butthead.

This week has been very bizarre.  So much so that I can't even believe that this has been a week.

Last Monday, Amanda, Leia, Aaron, and I drove up to Montreal.  Aaron had to head back up for school/living there, Amanda and I wanted to see the Veils, and Leia just tagged along because she was bored...
It was nice to be in a city I've never been in before, we had really good gelato, followed King Khan down the street for a few minutes, and the Veils restored our faith in live music.
We arrived Monday night, spent Tuesday wandering the city, went to the show, and immediately jumped back in the car and drove all night to Philly.  My job was to keep the driver awake, which means everyone got SOME sleep except for me.

Tuesday morning at like 5am, we pitstopped and got Katie, and continued our drive down.
Once we got to my aunts house, we PASSED OUT for like an hour and then went out to lunch at my favorite restaurant with my aunt.  We went back to her house to change and such, waited for Becca to get there :) and then headed over to the Electric Factory.
We pushed our way up during Amanda Blank's set, who I was looking forward to seeing, but once she butchered "I Might Like You Better If We Slept Together," I was so over it.
The YYY's killed it as always, my favorite parts being "Honeybear" and the ridiculous combination of like 8 costumes that Karen had thrown on.
Then again, we immediately left and drove back to Brooklyn.  Waking up at 8am for work was not fun.

THEN, Patrice arrived from Kansas via Chicago to NYC.  So nice having a houseguest and seeing her, obviously.

That night we went to Christian Joy and Jason Grisell's new art opening at TG170.  They banged out a rack full of dresses, t-shirts, tank tops, scarves, and prints in TWO DAYS.  Everything looked amazing.  And it was super fun hanging out with everyone :)
Then we saw "Moon" and it was absolutely torturous.

Throughout the next few days, Patrice and I hung out, ate cupcakes, drank coffee, went to Coney Island, and had some of the most ridiculous subway rides to date.
Amanda and Alex stayed the weekend for APW, arriving back with lots of stories... and mud.

On Monday night, we went to Arctic Monkeys at Highline, which was pretty much why Patrice was in town haha.  It was AMAZING to see them at such a small venue for the first time (past shows include Roseland Ballroom, Hammerstein Ballroom, and Central Park Summerstage), we were dead center, crushed against the stage, and SURROUNDED BY THE SCARIEST FAN BOYS.  Most of them were CRYING over Alex Turner and kept reaching over us to try to touch him.  and of course, he was EATING IT UP.  ugh.  Honestly, lost a little respect for him.  He is like the second coming of Rob Carmine from Rooney.
The best part of the night was dancing 10 feet away from DIDDY. ahhahahahhahahahahah
Then we stopped to say hi to Alexa Chung lol, and ALISON SMITH!, before trying to go to Cafeteria and having it be closed.  We returned to Brooklyn, Patrice packed her stuff, and she left.... See you in October!! <3

Work has been super annoying, but I have the next two days with Christiane instead of Bendel :)
BUT JAMES STARTS WORK WITH ME NEXT WEEEEEEEK!

Also next week, Blondie and Pat Benetar at Coney Island, and then probs a picnic outside Animal Collective for my birthday.  19 is so inconsequential.  Birthdays in general are inconsequential.

....Till my next boredom-induced WiFi run, bloggers :)
See ya!

More new stuff...
I love being able to tear things apart haha.
I want these next two weeks to fly by.
I have nothing fun to blog about at the moment.

Heads will roll...

Finally a clear photo.
Need I say more?
Still my favorite costume.

Jeff and Man Man this week.

I don't think I'm enjoying summer as much as I thought I would.
Maybe there's still a chance...

Monday, June 29, 2009

I love getting film back.  Three rolls later, I have all the photos I took over the past year, including more entertaining photos from the mini-tour. Most of them aren't very good.
My cousin is back with the band in Europe for the next month.  He asked me to come to Italy, but I don't think that's going to happen.

& No more No Doubt this summer :(  Five shows in the past two months, and now it's done... I'm holding out for one more, but it's so not happening.  Apparently the band's been staying at a hotel right by work, and I have yet to run into them.  LOVE being locked in an office all day.  LOVE IT.  At least my old job had windows.

Big news from my favorite job?
KAREN WORE THE HEADDRESS AT GLASTO.
I'm so mad I missed the assembly of it, but the hands were fun to work on, and the glove was my favorite haha.  I want to make my own fringe glove but I know I'll play with it too much.  We worked on a gothic/religion/shredded/amazing dress last week, and I finally get to go in again tomorrow.  New stuff to work on!

And finally, THE APARTMENT HAS BEEN FOUND!  Brooklyn!  We want everyone to come visit!  Facebook event coming soon! haha

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

i'm not liking this whole being home thing.
it's not nearly as exciting as being in sweden.
i went on a bike ride today.
tomorrow begins the apartment search.

Get on the ball....

So I managed to neglect writing for the last half of my trip!

Sunday:
- last show in Sweden
- best show in Sweden
- stuttered through a conversation with Bruce upon arriving back at the hotel
(he was wearing sunglasses inside.  not my fault.  i couldn't tell if he was talking to me or not)
- after four hours of fighting over it, booked a flight to Bergen, Norway

Monday:
- didn't come home

Tuesday:
- flew to Norway
- Bergen is the coolest town
- walked around by myself until everyone else got there
- stayed in Soozie's dressing room for the show, and got to see over the whole crowd

Wednesday:
- adventure in Bergen with Kaitlynn and Soozie
- went to the top of Ulrikan via cable car named Bruse (lol)
- had lunch at the top of the mountain
- went back, booked a flight to Jersey just incase I couldn't get on the charter plane with everyone later that night.
THEN
- actual last show of my trip
- Kaitlynn and I made signs for "Rosalita" and "Code of Silence"
- Cindy, Soozie, and Roy knew we had them before they went on  stage,
Nils and Clarence saw from the stage,
before the show was over,
"Rosalita" got played.
I don't know how it happened but it did and it was awesome.
- i had to run and get my bags from the hotel
- 30 minutes later I was sitting in the car on my way to the airport!

so, long story short, I flew on Bruce's private plane home from Norway, might make Cindy some clothes, got a big hug from my "cuz" bruce springsteen haha, landed in New Jersey at 3am, dad picked me up in the morning and took me to Philly, made it to the No Doubt show in Camden, ended up second row dead center, it wasn't a perfect show but it was pretty awesome regardless.  Then, i got home Friday, got ready, went to leia's awesome photo show opening at music hall of williamsburg (GO SEE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, HERS ARE UPSTAIRS BY THE ELEVATOR!!), worked saturday and NOW, i finally have a day off because of the puerto rican day parade and the store being closed.

PHEW.  done.

Day Four

Today was our off day...

I ended up staying up so late last night, that I didn't wake up till 1pm.

But then we got ready and walked all the way to the viking museum, but couldn't find the boats, so we left, and ended up getting stuck walking way farther than planned because of the Sweden day parade or whatever it was.  Old Town was really cute though.  It would be so much cuter without all the touristy stores in there though.

Then when we came back, we had to go to a dinner/party/thing by the concert sponsors, at the hotel.  The food was awesome but i'm not totally sure what half of it was.  & Everyday there has been a write-up about the show in the newspaper... Len and I spotted a not-so-good photo of Stevie Van Zandt out after a show, in the paper the other day, so Bruce and Steven wanted to see it at the party.  Too funny.

I think i'm going to run out shopping tomorrow morning, then last show tomorrow night!  Then home!  Then the mummies!  Then no doubt!!!

ps: longest entry yet?!

Day Three

The show was much better tonight... it got SO COLD, but it was sunny!
& i went out into the crowd which is always more fun that standing around.
Of course, i got stuck next to this CRAZY SUPERFAN from new york who i KNOW i have stood near before, who tells everyone he meets about how he "grew up" with bruce, and went to a bar with him one night.  Congrats.  You and 3/4 of New Jersey.

PS:  this is what happens every night and every day coming to and from the hotel...
(i missed being in that video by like two seconds... i hope i never find the pictures the paparazzi have snapped near me... guaranteed not very photogenic.  weird)

Day Two

First show day!
It was raining and freezing all day.  I need to go buy a jacket tomorrow morning.

It's June, like 50 degrees out all the time, and the SUN ROSE AT LIKE 3:30AM TODAY.
We stayed up (accidentally) to see it haha (where is my jet lag? seriously)

Tomorrow, weather will hopefully be better, so we can go explore and be able to stand still and not freeze at the show.

FOOD TIME FINALLY... it's 1am here.  i'm so thrown off.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Day One

- Slept my whole flight over.
(When i went to get off the plane, the woman next to me said "You slept, A LOT, didn't you?!"   .... yes?)

- Arrived at my hotel to see a group of kids stalking outside haha

- Met Nils Lofgren.

- Waiting here now for my cousin to get back from the doctor :)

Update #1-
I can't figure out how to turn the lights on.

Monday, June 1, 2009

this will not last.

Freshman year = done.

New job.

Soon, new apartment.

Now, packing/cleaning/trying to make a new dress.

Because...

Tomorrow, leaving for Sweden for some serious cousin time, & to hang out with Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band.  No big deal.
